What are the 23 channels Spectrums is dropping?

Over the past few days when you've turned on the TV a warning that Spectrum was dropping channels appearing on TV?

Are we really going to lose those channels?

Spectrum is dropping 23 channels. Viacom's channels include Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, BET, all the MTV channels, VH1, TV Land, CMT, and many others. Spectrum says Viacom is trying to charge more for its programming and channels. Viacom says it has made many offers, but as yet has not been able to meet the conditions Spectrum has proposed. How to fix Spectrum internet outage & Spectrum bill pay online.

What channels are being dropped by Spectrum TV?

This is ridiculous, cable prices continue to skyrocket, yet Spectrum drops yet more channels. Spectrum has also stopped providing the lower prices when you subscribed to more than one premium channel. When you paid the full fee for the first premium channel, the rest were always lower priced. When Spectrum was still Time Warner, they'd charge $10 for each extra premium channel.

We are now essentially paying more for much less, losing 23 channels are completely laughable.

The list of channels include MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, Nick 2, VH1, CMT Music, BET, CMT, Spike, Nick Jr., TV Land, Logo, MTV2, Nick toons, Teen Nick, MTV Classic, Nick Music, MTV Life, BET Her,  BET Jams, Tr3s, BET Soul,  and MTVU.

Viacom has made a sequence of very attractive offers to the charter that are compatible with terms we’ve recently reached with other large cable operators. Viacom says its offers would permit Spectrum customers to keep the channels, permit Spectrum to lower its customers’ Spectrum pay bills and give consumers more options.

I also checked for the channels myself and, so far, they're still on TV. So, I can VERIFY, no, you're not losing those channels, yet. For more details visit Spectrum chat and Spectrum activate.

  10. Spectrum is a dishonest monopoly that should be put out of business!!! They should not be allowed to advertise packages of $44 a month when that is NOT what you will be charged. I pay $200 a month and they are now dropping the 23 Viacom channels!!!! Will my bill be reduced??? Of course NOT!! Why is this corrupt company allowed to bilk customers and show NO RESPECT for loyal customers!!!
Let's boycott and put these shameful shysters out of business!!!!!

    1. I totally agree. They are crazy raising my bill recently by $10/mo. I pay $242.00 for too many channels that I don't even want. Other companies have given refunds due to the recent crisis, how about it Spectrum?

  11. I received my new cable box, and the channels I got before are gone, and it says to receive them I have to upgrade. I got those Pacific channels, before I got my new box. Why?

  12. As more people learn how to stream, to the point that they may not need cable, I suspect cable companies are trying to take it out of the hide of their existing customers. There are only a few ways to do that; increase charge, reduce services, reduce the number of employees and or their salaries or al of the above. The last is probably the choice most are making.

  21. I think if you’re not willing to pay $5-$7 day for entertainment then don’t pay for it. Go to a movie instead. There’s costs to run a cable company. It’s not cheap to keep up with the latest technology to run their customers services and pay for the packages that they sell to them. It’s not cheap to pay for the rental of the centers to handle calls. It’s not cheap to pay for the IT techs in the call centers and out there updating the infrastructure so they can provide the best service possible. It’s not cheap to have to update equipment every few years as technology keeps getting updated. It’s not cheap to pay a livable wage to employees. Cancel the service if you don’t want to pay $5-$7 a day for it. That’s what they’re charging you. Be grateful they even start you off on a promotional rate. All the cable and dish could just not have promotional rates to promote the NEW service at all. They could just offer the standard rate across the board.

    1. I remember the days of free TV with commercials that paid the fees we are paying. Cable was suppose to remove the commercials and we paid for it instead. Now we get commercials and have to pay for the viewing. So I think that they get more than their share of money to run their business. Without competition, we can't get a fair price for this entertainment. When TV ran on our antennas there didn't seem to be a need to upgrade this or that every three to six months. And our transmission worked very well. My mom is 81 and TV is her only entertainment. She is the only one on cable. The rest of the house does well on our antenna and internet companies such as Amazon Prime and Starz to fill in on the bigger movies and TV series we've only just discovered. She pays over $200 (every month her bill rises) and they keep discontinuing channels that she loves and counts on being there. You don't know what this does to an elder person who does not like change. Once she passes, we will cut off cable.

      Delete
    2. Oh, and I forgot to mention which channels I get on the antenna. Note that day and night will affect the TV transmission which affects which channels come in during those times. And it depends where your antenna is and the transmission site is. I'm located in a rural area of Riverside county in California. The channels may be different for you. But it's great because I don't have to pay for it and it's enough entertainment for us. I get Dabl, TBN, Hillsong, SMILE, PosiTV, Decades, GetTV, ESCAPE, GRIT, Quest, PBS-HD (SOCAL), PBS-2 (SOCAL), Daystar, PBSwrld, PBSkids, KLCS, KIDS-TV (KLCA-2), Create, ION Plus, and TDB, among many other channels.

  32. I remember when cable tv first started (I'm 67). They began by advertising on regular antenna tv for cable tv with "NO COMMERCIALS" or "Commercial free". The idea was you watch TV with better, more reliable connection and no commercials because you paid just to have good tv without commercials. After a few years, add-ons like HBO, Starz and other channels were added then they began to sell "bundles" and on and on and those bundled channels were also advertised as "Commercial free" because your so-called, "Commercial free" cable tv had tons of commercials. Eventually ALL cable tv channels will have commercials. People will just keep buying cable because they are too addicted to cut the cable. But I cut the cable years ago partly because even basic cable was too expensive for me but mainly because I am more into learning and expanding my knowledge base than watching a bunch of goop like "The Bachelor", soap operas, etc. Then came the internet and I was able to find more documentaries and what I call "quality tv" for free enough to last the rest of my life (remember, I'm old so will not live that much longer). However, I like being able to watch the new, live streaming so may purchase an online server because I only have cable internet which I get free.

It's not on PBS anymore and you don't offer BBC One.
    After watching seasons 1 through 9 now we don't get to see Seasons 10 - 12 ?
I'm dropping Spectrum if this is the case!

    It's been on PBS for Seasons 1 - 9.
    Now no Season 10?
You don't offer BBC One so can't watch it there.
    I'm done with Spectrum.

    Sick of it!!

  37. Hey guys! Im only 15, but spectrum shouldn't drop Nickelodeon. So many Kids watch that channel. As for those of us who are growing up, Nickelodeon is a small part of my childhood. Well, at least we aren't losing channels like TruTv and such. Comedy Central is the only channel that i know of that has the Office on it. Netflix made the decision to take The Office off. I agree that the prices for Spectrum are going up way too much and should be stopped. Let's just hope that they don't drop even more channels.
