How to get fire stick out of sleep mode

When the Fire TV Stick is in sleep mode, the TV screen will be black, but the device can still receive automatic software updates. If you want to completely turn off the Fire Stick, then you can unplug the device.

Your Fire TV Stick will automatically place itself into sleep mode if there hasn’t been any activity for 20 minutes. You can wake your Fire TV Stick from sleep mode by simply pressing any button on the remote or in the remote app.

How to get a fire stick out of sleep mode?

Check your Ethernet cable and power supply
In some cases, Amazon Fire TV might not go to sleep mode because of your Ethernet cable.
Few users reported that they had problems with CAT5 Ethernet cable, but after switching to the CAT6 Ethernet cable, the issue was fixed.

Additionally, you can also try replacing the Amazon Fire TV power supply since several users reported that replacing the fire stick remote power supply fixed the problem.

Enter Sleep Mode manually
I recommend entering the sleep mode manually as a workaround.
To do that, follow these steps:
1.       Press and hold the Home button on your remote for three seconds.
2.       Now choose Sleep from the Quick Access menu.
3.       After doing that, your device will enter into sleep mode.
Note: This is just a workaround, but you’ll have to use it until you find a Firestick remote not working solution.

With the Phone App
If your remote is not available in the room, then you can turn off the Amazon Fire Stick with your phone. Simply download and install the Amazon Fire TV app onto your phone.
Step 1: Open the Amazon Fire TV App
Open the Amazon Fire TV app and connect to the Fire TV you want to control.
Step 2: Choose “Remote” on the bottom menu list.
Choose the remote function in the menu list at the bottom of the app.
Step 3: Choose the “Gear” icon.
The "gear" icon will help you to access the sleep function and settings to the Fire TV application.
Step 3: Choose “Sleep”
Select "Sleep" on the menu and your screen will turn black.
Done! Your device is now in sleep mode.

Press any button on the remote app screen to wake the Fire TV Stick from sleep mode.
